The grunt of working machinery, the arc of spreading muck and the smell of cut grass will be core experiences for Grassland and Muck Event visitors on 21 and 22nd May 2008.
For two days, the 77ha (190 acre) site at Stoneleigh Park will be home to over 40 manufacturers demonstrating muck and grassland machinery on 65ha (160 acres) of standing grass and with 650 tonnes of muck. Demonstrating machines include grass mowers and conditioners, forage-harvesters, balers, wrappers, clamp filling equipment, muck spreaders and slurry injection systems.
“The quest for the event is to give visitors a really valuable experience from which they can make buying decisions and take home ideas for improving their own businesses, so practical demonstrations and free advice are at the heart of the content,” explains Alice Bell, the RASE Technical Events Manager.
- Kuhn Farm Machinery will be demonstrating the FC 703 RA
mower conditioner designed for reverse drive tractors and
capable of grouping 14 metres of grass into a single swath. The
machine comprises two mowing units that provide a 7 metre cut
and feed a lateral conveyor that groups the entire cut to one
side of the machine. Two swaths placed side-by-side have an
overall width of 2.5 metres and can be picked up by
self-propelled forager harvesters in a single pass. The machine
is priced at £54,408 and is also available without the grouper
(3 swath delivery) at £40,862.
- Kuhn Farm Machinery will also be putting its 9 cubic metre
capacity Pro Twin Slinger side exit manure spreader through its
paces. The manufacturers say that the Pro Twin Slinger design
will allow an even and controlled spread pattern whatever the
consistency or moisture content of the manure because a raised
right auger keeps the left auger evenly charged to feed the
forward-situated discharge hatch, thus preventing “bridging”.
The demonstration will show that discharge can be regulated
on-the-move with an hydraulically controlled deflector that can
adjust the spread width from a 1 metre wide deposit to a 15
metre finely distributed pattern. The price of the Pro Twin
Slinger 8124 starts at £17,426.
- McHale will have the latest addition to the McHale F5 baler
range. The McHale F560 is a fully automatic baler designed
around the company’s heavy-duty F550 baler and shares over 90%
of the same components as the McHale Fusion Integrated Baler
Wrapper. It has a two metre heavy-duty galvanised pick-up reel
with double raced cam bearings and slip clutch protection. The
machine comes standard with a 23 knife high capacity chopper
unit, with all the knives engaged the chopping unit delivers a
theoretical chop length of 50mm.
- McHale will also have their Fusion baler at the event. It
has a patented bale handling system with a one-pass bale
transfer process which makes the machine faster and more
reliable. The design has kept the machine short and has
increased output compared with conventional balers.
- Rolland Trailers will have the V2 160 TCE wide spread
composting spreader at the event. Suited for slurry and fine
manures (e.g. chicken manure), the capacity of the spreader is
16m3 heaped and the company says that it will accurately throw
the product up to 24m wide, depending on the products density.
There are 6 models in the TCE range from 13-20m3 and prices
start at £18,500. The company will also have their V2 140 C22
twin vertical beater machine with a 14m3 heaped capacities. The
design of Rolland spreaders is fairly unique on the market
place, a removable axle, front panel and rear beater frame make
replacing anything very easy. Prices start at £16,000 for the
smaller 11 cubic meter model.
- Harry West (Prees) Ltd will be demonstrating the award
winning Dual Spreader and Rear Discharge Spreader. The Dual
Spreader has a low power and maintenance requirements and the
range includes a 1300, 1600 and 2000 gallon versions. The
company suggests good resale value and reliability with the
capability to spread all types of manure from solid to slurries.
The heavy-duty West Rear Discharge Spreader is available in a 10
tonne capacity (8.7 m³) with standard in-cab controls and slurry
door. It is fitted with contra-rotating twin rear beaters to
shred and spread the material, and a spinning deck with heavy
duty flails.
- On their static plot, Harry West (Prees) Ltd will have the
“New” Diet Feeder in 12m³ configurations, featuring the West
trademark of low power requirement and high discharge feedout.
This new design paddle feeder is an addition to the existing
range featuring a transmission and hydraulic motor for the
feedout rotor along with a simple paddle action for mixing. Also
featured will be Dual and Rear Discharge Spreaders plus machines
from the Seko Unifeed range of Diet Feeders
- Tanco will have a number of bale wrappers on display
including the 1814 trailed square and round bale wrapper
(0.48m-1.4m square bales and 1.0-1.5m round bales), the 1400
High Speed Offset Trailed Round Bale Wrapper which comes with
low pressure tyres, has a hydraulic cut and tie mechanism and is
designed for speedy bale pick up and unload. The 1600 Compact
square and round bale wrapper and the End Tip Kit for the 1300
Series Round Bale Wrapper
- Opico will be launching new mounted pto drive Bush Hog 320 series heavy-duty rotary scrub cutters. Based on the 300-series, the 320 has an increased cutting capacity, improved slope to shed water and debris for a longer deck life and an upper and lower deck sandwiched construction which ties in with the gearbox stand (the gearbox is rated at 190hp and has a 5-year warranty), enabling the 320 to withstand the stress of the blades hitting the odd stump or fallen tree. Cutting widths are 5, 6 and 7 ft, with cutting heights from 2 to 12 inches and a cutting capacity of 3-½ inches. Prices are £3332 for the Model 325, £3740 for the Model 326 and £4891 for the Model 327. The company will also be the re-introducing wide cutters to the UK with the new Bush Hog 2715 Flex Wing machine, ideal for high capacity grass, setaside and rough cutting. The cutter has a six-year gearbox warranty, a transport width of 2.5m (8ft 2in) and it is priced at £13,487.
