Soil and grain sampling

![]()
Soil and grain samples were taken from the site which has been in arable rotation for the two seasons since the last Grassland event in 2005.
The results of the soil analysis (and grain analysis N:S ratio) confirm that the site is sulphur deficient. Phosphate levels are adequate in all but two fields. Potash is low. Both Magnesium and selenium levels are low which could pose animal health concerns.
Planned application activities on the Grassland site
1. Fertiliser application will be of NK Silage + Sulphur at a
rate of 600kg/ha
2. The nitrogen status is low due to the two years previous
arable crops, and thus around 130 kgN/ha is required.
